TO. The 6ix. T-Dot.
Toronto the Great juxtaposes historical public domain photographs and illustrations from the Toronto Archives with Christopher’s original hand lettering. His work is a fusion of traditional technique and contemporary execution, which involves scanning and manipulating his work digitally in post-production. This pastiche of "old-meets-new" adds layers of meaning, and the rawness of his unedited lettering draws attention to the imperfections, incongruities, and hand-crafted nature of the work.
This five (5) 3.5" X 5" perforated greyscale postcards were hand-lettered using brush and ink and printed in Toronto on Mohawk Superfine Eggshell Ultrawhite 120lb matte fine art paper, using an HP Indigo 7800 Digital Press.
